Growing up in Calgary, I first became interested in art education while preparing my AP portfolio for studio art. I studied at a charter school under wonderful teachers who inspired me to combine my love of art and lifelong learning with my passion for helping people and developing meaningful interpersonal relationships.
Following high school I entered the BFA program at UBC where I met incredible artists and instructors who encouraged me to continue with art and consider pursuing a career in education. In 2016 I graduated from UBC's Bachelor of Education program with specializations in secondary Art and ELL, where I was also a student of the International Baccalaureate cohort studying the Diploma Programme curriculum. Currently, I teach Year 4/5 at Calgary Arts Academy, an innovative public charter K-9 school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Our school teaches the Alberta curriculum through a progressive arts-immersion model, centred around student-driven learning, cross-curricular exploration, team-teaching, and whole-child development. I am also currently pursuing a Masters' in Art Education through the University of Victoria, with an expected graduation date of November 2020. For more information visit www.caaschool.com |
